Ballarat Tech School
Interactive STEM Learning Through Collaborative 3D Exploration
Ballarat Tech School is part of Victoria’s statewide Tech School network, offering free STEM programs that challenge students to solve real‑world problems and prepare them for the future world of work. Students remain at their regular schools and visit the Tech School to explore new technologies, tools, and learning approaches.
Solution
To support this mission, Ballarat Tech School invested in five Inside Explorer touch tables, giving students hands‑on access to advanced 3D visualization technology. Each table is equipped with the full Inside Explorer dataset, covering human and animal anatomy, natural history, and science. The ability to remotely update content and add new datasets was a key factor in choosing the platform.
Learning Experience
Inside Explorer enables collaborative, interactive exploration of complex subjects, helping students understand spatial concepts that are often difficult to visualise. Beyond consuming content, the platform is also used as a creative tool—allowing students and teachers to visualize local CT scans and 3D content produced by the students themselves.
Key outcomes
Highly engaging, collaborative STEM learning experiences
Improved understanding of complex 3D and spatial concepts
Flexible platform supporting both curated datasets and student‑generated content
Integration of advanced visualization technology into public education programs
