Saint Louis Art Museum extends license for interactive mummy exhibit
The Saint Louis Art Museum has extended its license for the interactive 3D mummy experience originally developed with Storyvoxel as part of the museum’s ancient Egyptian galleries.
First launched in connection with the museum’s re‑imagined Egyptian collection, the interactive installation allows visitors to explore CT‑scanned mummies layer by layer through an immersive touch‑based experience. Built on real scientific imaging data, the exhibit reveals internal structures and details that are otherwise inaccessible, supporting both public engagement and scholarly context.
The license extension reflects the continued relevance and value of explorable, data‑driven experiences in museum settings, and the museum’s long‑term commitment to making complex cultural heritage accessible without simplifying or compromising authenticity.
